Information Communication Technologies & Digital Media Sector Team

As an alternative to the soaring costs of conferences and travel, not to mention the paperwork involved, the ICT-DM Sector is bringing free professional development training to educators across the state. The Sector Team launched its ICT Educator Webinar Series in March, and to date more than 150 community college and high school educators have attended one or more of the weekly sessions.

Each episode tackles a unique topic related to ICT and Digital Media. Special guest speakers discuss ways for colleges to grow their ICT programs and participants are encouraged to ask questions and add to the discussion. Steve Wright, Sector Navigator serves as host and is loving how the series is going so far.

“This is our chance to give back to all the faculty who cannot travel to a conference,” Wright said. “It also allows us to grow a statewide awareness of trends and best practices with faculty questions and input. The experts we bring in are the best in the field and they target their message to the CA Community College system.”

All webinars are recorded and posted on the sector’s new website at www.ictdmsector.org. The Faculty Training page also lists descriptions of upcoming webinars, which have been scheduled through the end of May. All webinars are held on Fridays at 10:00 a.m. and educators are encouraged to attend live to add to the dymanic discussion.

In case you missed them, you can catch past episodes on the website:

  • Completing a 4-year Degree in Cybersecurity through the CA Community Colleges
  • Virtual Labs: Practice Labs in the South Central Coast Region
  • Digital Credentials in the California Community Colleges
  • BIW Cross-Disciplinary Certificates at College of the Desert
  • Boosting Hispanic Student Success in ICT

All ICT educators are encouraged to join our Friday webinars through May 31. You can view the schedule here.
