College of the Redwoods Computer Information Systems students competed recently in the National Cyber League final competition and ranked an impressive 37 out of 481 teams across the nation.
There were only 4 members on the CR team, including Dylan Maithonis, Tom Lasbury, Miranda Friel, and Drake Bristol. They competed against teams with up to 7 players from other colleges, universities, and trade schools.
“This was an amazing accomplishment for what was only their first time competing as a team and first fully dedicated opportunity to compete as individuals” said CR Computer Information Systems professor Chris Romero.
Wendy Porter, ICT-DM Regional Director in the North/Far North Region was happy to help fund their participation in this competition. “The competition comes with curriculum and faculty assistance, which makes it a great entry into new cybersecurity classes for our schools,” Porter said.
