Workers displaced by the pandemic will be returning to a workplace that is different from the one they left. Employers are learning that cloud-based collaborative technologies can increase the effectiveness of their workforce. Now, more than ever, workers need to gain skills with online tools to get and keep good jobs. And quickly!
To help meet this need, Bay Area Region business and computer science faculty have begun work on an integrated, 9-unit program for first line supervisors. Based on significant labor market demand, this program is designed to be completed entirely online, in just 12 weeks.
Local Workforce Investment Boards are involved to help recruit participants, and to provide relevant supports where needed. A second short-duration program has also begun development, focused on preparing students for the Google IT Support Technician and CompTIA A+ certifications.
